Reach Out And Touch Someone

- This is one of those little things we would all like to do
but just don't manage to nerve up to, but a co-worker at
my restaurant manages to get away with murder without much
of a harsh response. One day he was waiting on the typical
party of three women involving themselves in the typical ordering
dual, i.e. one ordering a soup and salad, the other, with a serious
poker faced stare at the others orders a baked potato with butter
and sour cream. Winning the contest of "who can eat the
least" was the third with a salad with no dressing. After a very
short time their waiter was flagged down, again typically with
the flailing of hands from across the room. Upon arriving at
the table the three demanded to know how long it would be for their
food. The waiter casually leaned over and picked up one
of the cellular phones laying on the table and mimicked a
call to the kitchen inquiring on the status of their order.
Needless to say, very few questions were exchanged past that point.
