At the front door there was a sign saying; "No Individual Billing ". As they were sat and waters got, I explained to them at the table that there would be no seperate billing, that one bill would be issued for the table, and that as they left it was best to leave the money with one designated person. Each menu also had this printed at the top and bottom.
So, they have their meal and thoroughly enjoy themselves. Then one guy who had been drinking heavily got up to leave and demands a bill. I explain the policy, he gets loud, abusive, and violent so I relent and gave him a bill just to get rid of him. He goes back to the table and tells them we really do do individual bills. To sum it up, they all demanded their own bills as they left and we did it for them.
The birthday girl, her boyfriend, and father are the last to leave and are presented with a bill of $275.00. They complain as the meals were only supposed to be about $95.00 in total. I ONCE AGAIN explain the individual bills policy. Now they realize why, because people don't pay for everything or forget. They complain for a while, pay, and leave.
About a week later we get a letter saying we are being sued by these people as A: The Birthday girl's friends, "Wouldn't have done that to her".... B: The No billing rule wasnt explained till the end of the night ...and C:They were unhappy with the service anyway. After a long court battle we won and they were fined for waisting the court's time. What did they do for a living that they could afford to take us to court?
Birthday girl, Boyfriend and Daddy were all lawyers of course!!!!!
