Comp An Attitude

From Houston, Texas
- One night I had a couple come in and order one Sprite and
one snapper meuniere. A few minutes later they flagged
me down and presented me with a $35 comp letter, checking
to see if they got back change if the bill was less than
35 dollars. I explained, no, it's our way of letting you
get to know us (with that "oh, crap" feeling sinking in)
They looked disappointed and immediately ordered another
snapper and a glass of white zin. I then explained that
alcohol was not included, and, surprise!- we didn't want
that wine, after all. When they finished their entrees,
they asked if there was enough left out of the 35 dollars
for dessert. After they left, there was a crisp one
dollar bill folded up under the sugar caddy for me.
Thanks, folks!
